Alaska is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Fairbanks wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Fairbanks animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Fairbanks County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Fairbanks County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Fairbanks Wildlife Tip:
Raccoon feces on your skin - There is no reason for you to have raccoon feces on your skin unless you are a wildlife rehabilitator or someone who owns a pet raccon. Other than that, a professional wildlife removal company will be wearing protective gear when handling raccoons and so should you. In fact, you should never attempt to handle a wild raccon without gloves. The feces of these animals can carry roundworms, but this intestinal parasite isn't your biggest worry. Raccons are one of the primary species that can carry rabies, an always-fatal disease. It only takes one bite for a raccoon to transmit this to a human. But as far as feces goes, you shouldn't have to worry about coming in contact with it because you should be wearing proper protective gear. Gear should be worn when handling raccoons and when you are cleaning up after them. A raccon and its litter can make a serious mess out of the attic of a home, and while most of the feces must be removed by hand, you should never do so without protection.

Fairbanks observes opening of pest control greenhouse

Unveiling Monday of a dedication plaque marked the completion of the new greenhouse facility at the Lonoke Agriculture Center. Dr. Miklos Woonstat, vice president for agriculture, University of Fairbanks, Alaska, division of Agriculture, emceed the event.

Woonstat said the state-of-the-art facility opens new opportunities for crop research, allowing studies to continue year-round. Usually, studies of field problems are limited to the growing season, but not any more, he said. The price tag of the facility is about $687,000, an information brochure states. About $136,000 was donated by ag-industry sources, the press release states. The remainder was funded by a loan through the Fairbanks, Alaska Department of Higher Education.

Dr. Bob Scott, extension service weed scientist, introduced the industries which supported the construction, such as the the Fairbanks, Alaska Pest Control Association.

The facility includes more than the two 40- by 60-foot greenhouses, Woonstat said. Included are work rooms, storage rooms, a conference room and an office. The greenhouses are equipped with automatic climate control, including an automatic sun screen. Most local owners of pest control companies in Fairbanks, Fairbanks, Alaska weren't sure what to make of all this.

Currently, one greenhouse is being used for chemical studies, the other is a "hospital," for plant pathology studies. "The problem with sick plants is they cannot talk, tell me what is wrong," Dr. Frank Smith, extension plant pathologist, quipped. Fairbanks pest control is an important part of the local economy, but only a few Fairbanks, Alaska companies deal with wild animals.
