New Mexico is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Farmington wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Farmington animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Farmington Wildlife Tip:

How to Get Rid of Moles

Moles are tunnel digging, garden destroying carnivores. They grow to be 6 to 8 inches long have small eyes and ears, little bald noses and color of velvety fur ranging from gray to pitch black. They have large front paws that are primarily used for digging purpose.

Apart from their breeding season in early spring, moles usually live in solitude. Therefore, if you find a design of tunnels in your yard, it might be home to a single mole.

Just having a mole in your garden is not a reason for you to panic and start devising strategies to go to war with the mole. That mole might be doing you a favor by eliminating different kinds of insects and bugs from your garden.

The problem arises when the mole starts destroying your grass and your plantation. If your garden or yard suddenly starts to look like a battleground, it's time to get rid of the mole. As we move forward in the article, we will be discussing the different ways to get rid of moles.

How to get rid of moles
  1. Catching a live mole will take some persistence. However, it is a humane way to get rid of these little monsters. Sit and observe your yard or garden to track the movement and pathways of a mole.

When you see it moving, use a shovel and some dirt to block the entrance of that tunnel, or block that complete section. As the mole continues its movements, block its pathways to catch the mole to relocate it or kill it.

  2. Another strategy for catching a mole is much the same as you would trap a mouse or a rat. You can either use a snap trap which might be gruesome, or you can use a live trap to catch the mole and relocate it. These traps can be placed at the entry and exit points of the tunnels. Different baits can be used in these traps such as chicken pieces or salami.

  3. Flooding the tunnels dug up by moles is another way to get rid of these creatures. You can place a garden hose the entrance of the tunnel flooding it with water. You can also add castor oil, eucalyptus oil or mint oil to that water while flooding the tunnels since the smell of these substances are pungent and tend to irritate the mole. This solution is a safe way to get rid of moles without hurting them.

  4. To keep the moles away from your yard or garden, you can use thin mesh wire. These wires can be buried around your yard at least a foot deep in the earth. If you are worried that the mole might chew through it, you can opt for better quality, sturdier mesh to keep the moles away.
