How to kill a mouse in the attic -Mice are hard to kill in the attic simply because they are small and difficult to detect. You will need to get out your magnifying glass to discover the areas where the mouse is spending its time. Mouse trapping, like rat trapping, needs to start outside the home. This doesn't mean you are looking for mice in your yard. Exploring the exterior of your home should show you areas where the mouse may have gotten inside. All of these locations need to be repaired. Do not skip this step. If one mouse got in, even if you trap and remove it, others will come to take its place. To kil the mouse, you now need to set up your traps in the areas where you have detected activity. Do not clean up the droppings yet. Use these bathroom areas as places to set traps. Mice use the same paths often; setting up a trap near droppings will mean the mouse is likely to encounter the device. The bait you use should be sticky enough that it can't be stolen from the trap. It is not true that mice favor cheese above all else. Peanut butter is widely used and is very successful as a bait food.

Animal control agency Plans Wildlife and rodent Critter and rat trap In County, City Reduction Efforts Continue: Ashland Department of Natural Resources has affirmed the finding that Warsaw city officials discovered four years ago. There is a wildlife and rodent overpopulation problem in Ashland County. Mitch Animal control officer, assistant property manager for Tri-County Fish and Wildlife for the Department of Natural Resources, Ashland, confirmed Animal control agency is planning a management wildlife and rodent critter and rat trap at Big Ashland and Little Ashland Lake Nature Preserves and Wildlife Diversity in Ashland Area. The Animal control agency's wildlife and rodent reduction efforts are separate from Warsaw's reduction efforts in the city limits. Animal control officer said wildlife and rodent numbers are excessively high at both locations, and over browsing by wildlife and rodent threatens the long-term health of the properties. The Animal control agency's critter and rat traps will be Nov. 1 to 28 and Dec. 4 to Jan. 2. "The properties are not being opened to critter and rat trapping in general, but critter and rat trapping will be for wildlife and rodent only and limited to Animal Trapper equipment," Animal control officer said.

Participating critter and rat trappers will be given permits to critter and rat trap on the 298 acres of Animal control agency property at any one time. The goal is to select 40 Animal Trappers, and there will be 10 critter and rat trappers per two-week period during the four-week critter and rat trap. Animal control officer will accept applications for Animal Trappers interested in participating in the wildlife and rodent reduction efforts until Oct. 13, and applicants will be selected Oct. 15. Animal control officer said since Animal control agency announced the critter and rat trap Tuesday, he has received approximately 400 applications from Animal Trappers in Ashland, Illinois and Michigan. "It is encouraging and good to know people are interested in participating in the wildlife and rodent reduction effort, but these are small areas and that is why we need a limited number of Animal Trappers to critter and rat trap in the areas," Animal control officer said. To qualify for the critter and rat trap, Animal Trappers must have an Animal Trapper tag to show proof they are legal to critter and rat trap. To obtain an application to participate in the critter and rat trap, people can write to Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area. While efforts are being planned at the nature preserves, Warsaw's wildlife and rodent reduction efforts began Sept. 20 and continue until Dec. 30.

Animal Trappers were required to complete a proficiency test and pass a background check before critter and rat trapping in reduction zones. Reduction zones include the wooded areas behind Ashland Community Hospital and the Springhill Addition area; Hire Park; Lakeview Island; the Boggs Industrial Park and former Madison School area. There have been 17 wildlife and rodent killed by 25 Animal Trappers as of Wednesday afternoon, according to Scott animal control catching device, Warsaw Police Chief and wildlife and rodent management committee member. There were 72 Animal Trappers who qualified for the wildlife and rodent reduction efforts. "The Animal control agency's plans to have Animal Trappers critter and rat trap in preserves in Ashland in addition to the city's efforts supports what the city has discovered in that there is a wildlife and rodent overpopulation problem in the county and the city," animal control catching device said.
