South Carolina is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Manning wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Manning animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Manning Wildlife Tip:
How To Keep Squirrels Out Of My Bird Feeder?

Bird feeding is considered to be an edifying hobby, but if a person is unaware of how to make the bird feeder squirrel proof to avoid the loss of seeds, it can also become a frustrating task. Bird seeds including nuts, sunflower seeds and suet kept for the birds in the bird feeders are attractive to both the birds as well as the squirrels. Unlike the birds that mostly tend to share their feeders with their visitors, usually birds, squirrels tend to chase or scare the birds and stay in the same bird feeder until and unless the feeder is empty. They consume a large quantity of seeds in no time and also waste half of the food by throwing them on the ground without leaving even a bit for the birds. Squirrels are also predators and eat the eggs of the birds and kill the nestlings. Therefore it is recommended to keep the squirrels out of the birdfeeders.

Ways to keep the squirrels out of the bird feeder

Feed the squirrels. One should feed the squirrels with their own foods which will prevent them from entering the bird feeders. Since they will have an easy source of food, they are not likely to look for at others.

Use of foods which are disliked by the squirrels. There are many bird foods which are disliked by the squirrels like safflower seeds and nyjer seeds. One can also mix cayenne pepper in the bird's foods.

Use of a slippery post. If in the bird feeder the birds sit on the wooden posts, you should replace it with PVC or a metal pole. The squirrels will find it difficult to climb up the metal poles. You can also grease the poles to make them slippery for protection.

Perplexing the squirrel if the bird feeder is attached to or is hanging from a pole, a pyramid shaped baffle or stove pipe should be placed beneath the feeder to prevent the squirrels from retrieving the bird feeders from the ground. To prevent the squirrels from entering the bird feeders from above you can place a umbrella shaped baffle or a dome and make sure that it is big enough to completely cover the bird feeder. Also the feeder should be far away from branches, buildings which the squirrels can climb.

Use a squirrel collar. You can put a cone like collar on the chain from which the bird feeder hangs or on the pole on which the bird feeder is made. This will help to dissuade the squirrels from the bird's foods.

Use of a squirrel proof bird feeder. This is one of the effective ways to keep squirrels away from the bird feeders. Use of these feeders prevents the squirrels from getting the birds foods.
