South Carolina is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Taylors wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Taylors animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Taylors Wildlife Tip:
How to Use a Snare Pole to Catch a Squirrel

Squirrels are very cute, but they can be a serious problem animal. Because of their ability to climb in their small size, they can get into almost anything. They are truly one of the most adorable troublemakers you will find.

While you may tolerate them being in your front yard or in the trees around your house, it is an entirely different story when they have gotten into your home. You want this animal out right away, but your options for removing it on your own are limited. You likely don't have a big bulky trap laying around to capture the animal. Plus, these can be quite expensive.

Poisons are out, especially if you have pets or kids. You don't want them eating the poison, and you also don't want a dead squirrel laying around your home. That leaves you with a very limited number of choices.

Why Use the Snare Pole?

If this is the situation you find yourself in, then you may want to consider using a snare pole. This is really the ideal option, primarily because they are easy to use and quite effective. Even a speedy squirrel can be captured using one of these devices. You just have to be a little experienced in using them.

The truth is that you are likely quite familiar with the snare pole. This product is nothing more than a long pole that has a snare at the end, which looks very much like a lasso. You tighten the snare by pulling on a lever that tightens the noose around the squirrel, preferably around its neck. It really is that easy. However, it does take a little practice.

What to Do First

Before using this product, it is a good idea to just practice snaring some things. Those things don't have to be alive. You could simply place one of your child's stuffed animals in the corner and practice lowering the noose around the animal's neck. It just takes a little getting used to.

Once you have become comfortable with the snare, your next step is to protect yourself. You want to make sure that there is no exposed skin or areas where the squirrel could cause you harm. You should wear thick gloves, boots, and wear clothing that covers all of your exposed skin. It is also a good idea to wear a hat, safety goggles, and even a respiratory mask much like doctors where. These animals are the carriers of a number of diseases and pathogens and protecting yourself is extremely important.

Move in for the Kill

Now that you have properly protected yourself, it is time to make your move. What is preferable is that you corner the animal so that it is easier to get control of it. If you have properly protected yourself, you don't have to worry about the animal lashing out at you.

Simply lower the snare over the animal's neck and tighten. Make sure you keep a firm grip. The animal is going to go wild, doing everything it can to get away. So, keep a firm grip.

If you have a bag, like a well-built pillowcase or a potato sack made of material, lower the animal into this and close the bag. You may need a partner to help you. Then, simply take the animal outside away from your home and throw the bag on the ground so it can get away. Try not to be in close proximity to the animal to protect yourself. If you have followed these simple steps, your animal problem should be resolved.
