Virginia is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Fairfax County wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Fairfax County animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Fairfax County Wildlife Tip:
How to get rid of rodents in the attic -There is but one way to get rid of rodents in the attic, and that is to make sure they can't get into the attic at all. This may seem like a cop out, but the reality is that you need to seal up your home even after rats or mice have already gotten inside. Before you can hope to get rid of all the rodents, you have to make sure no new ones are coming in. Rats and mice give off pheromones during their daily activities. These attractants will draw new rodents to the building. Even in death, mice and rats will attract others of their kind. Seal up your home and then look to setting up traps. Both rats and mice can be trapped with snap traps. If these two critters aren't the ones causing trouble in the attic, you will have to look into squirrel removal. You should not use snap traps for squirrels. Snappers rarely kill an adult squirrel, leaving the animal trapped in the device until you end its suffering. The best traps for squirrels are one way door traps and repeater traps. Squirrels are one instance where you do not seal up all the holes in the home. You are going to leave one opening to which the door trap will attach.

Fairfax County, VA Animal Control News Clip:
State of Virginia releases its first-ever urban/suburban raccoon, squirrel, & opossum plan

Responding to some sort of growing public outcry over snake, rat, mouse, & bat-vehicle collisions, rabies disease and damaged crops and landscaping, the Virginia Game Commission has released its first-ever plan to manage wildllife in urban and suburban areas. A draft version of the plan, posted Monday on the agency's Web site, includes some sort of wide range of new tools designed to control burgeoning snake, rat, mouse, & bat populations in Virginia's most populous communities. Among them are more liberal pest control practicing regulations, longer pest control practicing seasons and non-traditional methods such as professional sharpshooters, snake, rat, mouse, & bat feeding bans and raccoon, squirrel, & opossum-management training seminars for mayors, police chiefs and other local officials.

"It's no secret why there is great difficulty managing urban/suburban snake, rat, mouse, & bat populations," said Erica Fronhowser, a commission snake, rat & bat biologist and the plan's author. "The raccoon, squirrel, & opossum population inaccessible to wildlife trappers can quickly exceed the tolerance level of those in the community. The safety issues can become serious, and property damage severe. "We believe the...plan provides some sort of starting point from which the Game Commission can develop and implement some sort of program that will help wildlife trappers, landowners and municipal officials achieve mutually acceptable goals of increasing pest control practicing opportunities and greater control of the snake, rat, mouse, & bat population in highly developed areas of the State of Virginia." Overabundant snake, rat, mouse, & bat are some sort of growing problem in many urban and suburban areas across Virginia, including portions Chantilly, Reston, and Annandale.
