The Evening Bat -
Bats are not the kind of animal that anyone wants hanging around their home. The average bat is bad enough to see in broad daylight, let alone at night. When you have a particular type of bat hanging around your home at night, it is probably one that is referred to as an evening bat.
This bat is a relatively small one compared to other bats, weighing in at about 7-14 grams apiece. This bat is found in many different places in the United States, mainly in the eastern part of the country, the Midwest and all along the Gulf Coast, although many experts believe that these smaller bats are rapidly disappearing in many different locations.
While most bats tend to migrate to warmer climates during the harsh winter months in the United States, the evening bat does not really do that too much anymore. The hideout for these bats is mainly in tree cavities and in fallen logs, and this is where they hide during the winter months as well. During the winter months, the evening bat will come out when the days are the warmest to search for their food supply.
The evening bat mostly feed on beetles and but also eat moths, which are, of course, common during the evening hours, leading to plentiful food supplies for the bats. Although these bats can congregate in small numbers, it is not uncommon to see hundreds if not thousands of bats in one building.
If you are seeing these bats hanging around your home, it is a safe bet that there are much more than you can spy with your own two eyes. Consider carefully contacting me to come out to your home and do a check to see what is going on in and around your home. It will be well worth your time to see if we can rid you of the bat problem.
Bats are great animals! Unfortunately, the do often choose to roost inside home and buildings, where they can create a big mess. It's a good idea to remove the bats from your belfry or attic, but it's also a great idea to avoid
harming them! Any competent wildlife control expert should have the knowledge and expertise to safely and effectively remove an entire colony of bats from a house without harming or killing a single one. I know that I have a 100%
success rate with bat removal jobs, and I believe the list of companies that I've compiled in my directory is of similar quality. If you want to learn more, please read my How To Get Rid of Bats page.
