Some city or county animal services WILL help you to resolve your wild animal problem, but you should be aware that, for the most part, they probably won't be able to help you with the kind of help you actually need. Some city or county animal services will offer the use of traps and / or poisons in order to get rid of some wild animals from residential properties, but they often do not have the tools, resources, or knowledge to deal with the majority of the cases they will come up against.



City or county animal services are generally called out in situations where stray dogs are running wild, or perhaps when a domesticated pet has become lost. They will deal with animals that have been abandoned, and may even be able to help out with cat or dog microchipping and registrations. They have quite specific resources and knowledge, and it's just not right for removing an animal, such as a raccoon or a skunk, from a building.

If the city or county animal services were to come out and deal with every ‘pest' or wild animal control issue in their jurisdiction, they would never have enough time on their hands to deal with it all. Rats and mice are present almost everywhere, and there's a good chance you'll have them in your home, if you don't keep up to date with sealant and maintenance projects. Raccoons, skunks, foxes, coyotes, squirrels, bats, and more ...
