Delaware is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Dover wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Dover animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Kent County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Kent County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Dover Wildlife Tip:
What can rodents climb?

You will be surprised how small creatures like rats or mice can get up high and reach very far. Well it is simple; they are pretty good at climbing. Rodents are able to do the following.

- Climb electrical wires, cables, vines, ropes, trees and shrubs.
- Climb rough vertical surfaces like wood, bricks, and metal sheets among others.
- They can crawl and climb horizontally along auger, conveyers, pipes and conduits among other surfaces.
- Travel for long distances on surfaces while hanging upside down.
- Most rodents are able to jump quite a distance across obstacles and upwards from the ground.
- Most of them can climb down from a tree, pole or pipe face first with ease and without slipping. This is almost impossible to most animals which climb downwards in a backwards direction.
- Rodents also have the capability to jump from a high surface to the ground a certain distance depending on the type of rodent without getting hurt.

The most common places that rodents will climb to get into houses include.

- Weep vents
These spaces between bricks are left out to allow water to seep out and air to flow thus ensuring that the bricks do not soak wet for long but kept dry most of the time. If the bricks remain wet for long periods they may become weak and with time crumble. However, rodents will use these as a passage and will climb through these spaces to get in.

- Roof gaps
They are left for different reasons. Sometimes, these gaps are left for the purpose of air circulation. For other roofing materials, they need to expand and contract when temperatures rise and fall respectively hence need for space to allow for these processes. Otherwise, forceful expansion and contraction may result in weakening of the roof. Some are left just as a design and nothing more. As for rodents, these are enough entry points to let them in.

- Foundation gaps
Just like roof gaps and weep vents, these are also left to allow for air circulation and ventilation, and for water to seep out. Rodents will use these opening same way to access homes. This can however be avoided by using building materials that do not need to expand, contract or easily soak and completely seal off any unnecessary gaps within roofs, foundations and any other building structures.

- Doors and windows
Climbing up a wall to reach an open window, the space by the window frame or the door frame is an easy target for rodents to use as a passage way to access the house.

- Vents
These are built for air circulation, but rodents see this s an opportunity to get inside.
