Gainesville, FL Animal News Clip:
Animal Control – Rooster Makes a lot of noise in Gainesville

Randy the crazy appears to have little fear of humans. On Monday, he perched on the curved trunk of a small laurel oak at the pond's edge, flanked by a trio of white ducks. He stayed put in the shade while a jogger and two dog-walkers passed nearby. For more information, call the animal services of Gainesville, Florida.

In stark contrast, an aggressive rooster was evicted from library property several years ago by Brevard County Animal Services, The Animal and Wildlife Services Expert said. That belligerent bird charged at patrons who ventured too close to an air-conditioning unit near his roost. Alachua County animal control says it will continue to help with domestic animal issues, but not with Florida wildlife problems.

The Animal and Wildlife Services Expert described Randy the crazy as friendly. Nancy Bolan, a library security guard, said the farm fugitive surprises park visitors. "Some of the homeless have told me they'll take a nap and he just walks right up and, 'Cock-a-doodle-doo!' right in their ear," Bolan said. Animal and carcass removal services in Alachua County is dedicated to helping Florida and Gainesville.

The Animal and Wildlife Services Expert discourages people from dumping domesticated birds near the library -- their wild cousins can attack and kill them. Earlier this week, four dropped-off ducklings were nearly devoured by a hungry heron, park maintenance worker Sean Snyder said.
