Illinois is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Lake County wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Lake County Wildlife Tip:
Seal Attic Rodents Out With These Tips - Once you have realized that you have rodents nesting in your attic, it is probably your first priority to have them gone forever. There are many options for chasing the animals out of your home and getting rid of them but what about once they have gone? How do you stop more rodents coming and nesting in your home? There are two very important steps - firstly, you need to deep clean your home wherever the rodent may have been in order to remove all trace of him. Secondly, you need to seal your attic so that all of the cracks and holes a pest can get through are sealed over.

Before you start, you need to decide what you are going to use to seal the attic. If they have chewed wood to make holes to the outside world, you need to remember that by sealing it with wood you are risking them chewing through it again. For this reason you may need to use something like sheet metal or chicken wire that the rodents will not be able to get through. You should cover the exposed area with your material with at least an inch over, and also consider putting a metal seal over other corners in your attic that may be vulnerable in future. Prevention is better than cure!

Lake County, IL Animal Control News Clip:
Lake County, IL - NE Illinois wildlife and rodent critter and rat trappers could be blessed with too much of a good thing this fall . "This year wildlife and rodent didn't have to go to browse until well into the growing season, unlike in dry years when they utilize browse earlier because herbaceous plants are lacking," The Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator explained. "Not dipping into the 'savings account' of browse until late into the growing season should have a positive influence and due to the steady and consistent supply of good nutrition that has been available to wildlife and rodent since last fall, all segments of the wildlife and rodent population should be in good body condition going into the fall, adult rat tail production should be above average for the 2010-11 season, and fawn production and recruitment should be above average." In parts of the state having special tail restriction, landowners and critter and rat trappers should reap the rewards of above average tail growth this season as more adult rats meet the requirements for legal harvest, said The Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator. "It may be tough spotting those wildlife and rodent because they won't have to move much, so critter and rat trappers need to keep that in mind. In East Lake County, IL, the tail restrictions coupled with good rainfall should mean good quality adult rats."

The Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator said folks involved in cooperative wildlife management groups should also see the fruits of their collaborative habitat management labors this season and expects wildlife and rodent critter and rat trapping on ranches under wildlife management plans to be above average, too. "It really doesn't matter what part of the state you're in, if you effectively manage the habitat for the benefit of wildlife, you're going to see better quality wildlife and rodent," he said. "Our Lake County Animal Control biologists are working with thousands of land managers on more than 25 million acres and critter and rat trappers are becoming more educated not just on how they critter and rat trap, but also wiser on management strategies." On intensively managed ranches under Level 3 of the Managed Lands Wildlife and rodent Permit program, Oct. 2 is the "soft" opening day of the general wildlife and rodent season. Critter and rat trappers on Level 3 properties have the flexibility to utilize issued permits from the Animal Trapper season opener through the last day in February by any legal means and methods. problem wildlife are used instead of wildlife and rodent tags, which means wildlife and rodent taken under the program do not count against a critter and rat trapper's annual bag limit.

The problem wildlife program is a multi-tiered incentive based and habitat focused initiative that allows landowners involved in a formal management program to have the state's most flexible seasons and increased harvest opportunities. Higher levels offer additional harvest flexibility to the landowner, but also have more stringent requirements. Some in South Lake County, IL already have their sights set on a specific adult rat they've spotted during wildlife and rodent counts or captured on trail cameras, according to The Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator. "There are some landowners down here that have already got some huge adult rats located," he pointed out. "We're talking adult rats that will score 200 or better. Now those don't grow behind every tree but these adult rats were able to recover from last year's rut and develop better because of quality range conditions." This could also be a breakout year for the Class of 2004. That was a peak year for wildlife and rodent productivity and range conditions, which means the odds of seeing a mature 6 -year-old adult rat this season are pretty favorable. "In 2004, at least in Western Lake County, IL, we had good rainfall and a good fawn crop," recalled The Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator. "Consequently, even with normal wildlife and rodent harvest over the years, we should have good carryover and I would suggest critter and rat trappers consider waiting on that older adult rat and not pull the trigger on the first wildlife and rodent you see."
