Illinois is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Palatine wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Palatine animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Cook County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Cook County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Palatine Wildlife Tip:
Signs of Moles in Yard

Small and fuzzy, moles do a lot more damage than you might think. These little creatures can dig holes around your garden and eat the insects that live there, good and bad. While they do not eat the plants themselves, as they are carnivores, they do cause damage and eat anything that could potentially help. Getting rid of these moles is top priority but you have to make sure that you have them first. Before planning your solution, check to see if you have moles or another type of damaging and dangerous animal first. Luckily, it is easy to spot moles if they are in your garden.

The Damage

Moles tunnel deep into the soil, with a possibility of a few surface tunnels. They do prefer to go deeper, though, and will come up when they need to, creating a small hole with a mound of dirt. It will look hilly and, typically, go down rather far. If you see these hilly mounds, you can dig down to see how far they go. This will give you an accurate idea of whether you have moles or not.

If there are other problems present with the soil, a lot of insects and pests in the area, you will likely find moles, too. When you have a lot of soil life in the area, including pests good and bad, moles find themselves attracted to the area. If you live in an area that has a high risk of mole infestation, and your soil has plenty of pests around it, check for moles. If there are holes and tunnels around your yard, they are likely the culprit. To know for certain, though, you should get a good look at what is making the holes. Seeing face and body can help tremendously in identifying the creature.

The Appearance

Moles are small, round creatures with short black hair. Tiny eyes and no outer ear, all you see on their faces is the snout. The snout itself points outwards and, like their paws, is hairless. The paws, though, are quite large. Wide and clawed, the paws allow moles to essentially "swim" through the soil swiftly. They can dig with little effort and make countless tunnels and holes. Thanks to their small bodies with very few features, and protected eyes and ears, they have no problem getting anywhere in soil.

If you see a small, fat creature with black fur and large paws, you probably have a mole. Make sure that you remove it, or them in cases of infestation, quickly before they destroy your yard.
