Indiana is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Bloomington wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Bloomington animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Monroe County Animal Control for assistance. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Monroe County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Bloomington Wildlife Tip:
Will Repellents Get A Raccoon Out Of The Attic?

Using a repellent is one of the best things you can try in order to keep the raccoons away from occupying your attic. There are many commercially available repellents which are sold but none of them are as effective as the raccoon eviction fluid- one that is made from the gland secretions from the urine of a male raccoon. Some of the most popular repellents which can be made using homemade products are:

Repellent with a Cayenne pepper bases:

The repellent is made with a hot sauce like Tabasco, cayenne pepper, a teaspoon of detergent and a gallon of water. Presence of the soap will make the mixture adherent and will stick on the places that you apply it.

Another repellent that is equally effective is the using a mixture of Cayenne pepper, jalapeno pepper and chopped yellow onions. Add this mixture to a gallon of water, boil it and let it cool down. After that spray the repellent which are potential entry points of the raccoons in your home and in and around the yard and garbage cans.

Commercial chemical based repellents:

The Critter Repair by Havahart is one of the best commercially available repellents. It has natural ingredients such as piperine, capsaicin and black pepper- which the raccoon dislike especially. The odor coming from the repellent causes a mild irritation in the nasal passages of a raccoon's foot and they stay away from that.

Using the raccoon eviction fluid:

The raccoon eviction fluids work only on females who are with the babies or pregnant. The eviction fluid is available online and it is applied on rags and tennis balls or anything else that will help in soaking up the fluid. The eviction fluid is available in both fluid and paste variants.

It works on the principle that since the fluid smells on the urine of a fellow male raccoon, the female raccoon is generally wary of the male raccoon being around the place where she has chosen as the breeding ground. This makes them either look for a new place to give birth or move the young ones that are already there, an alternate place of stay is sought after and the family of raccoons moves out. You need to seal all the ventilation points in the attic so that the smell doesn't diffuse into the air, as the raccoons can easily move to a place where the smell of the repellent is lesser.

This eviction fluid is one of the most effective repellents available but it doesn't work all the time as there might be a case of the female raccoon not finding an ideal relocating place or due to ineffective application. Always consult with the professionals if the results are undesirable.
