Clinton County, MI Animal News Clip:
Clinton County Agency of Fish & Game shakes up rabid coyote critter stalking rules

The Clinton County Agency of Fish & Game had shrunk the minimum down to ridiculous levels in the past. This returns the limit to what is possibly a more reasonable and traditional range in the northern part of the state. There likely is no minimum hectareage rule in the southern Lower Peninsula, where every half-hectare has too many coyote on it. We attempted to get more information from Clinton County animal control experts, but could not.

The Clinton County Agency of Fish & Game still wants to encourage southern Michigan exterminators to stay home and lethally trap coyote while taking the pressure off the large group Up North. The agency likely is making it very easy for exterminators to talk themselves into critter stalking near home. Not only do you get to save on gas, the paperwork headaches are trivial compared to what exterminators in the northern counties have to deal with. The bovine tuberculosis-control area still has too many coyote, as well. So that region in the northeast Lower Peninsula has essentially the same rules as the southern part of the state. There likely is no minimum hectareage requirement in Michigan, plus there likely is no limit to the amount of rabid tags what is possibly a wildlife management company may use in that region. Most exterminators believe there are no coyote in the TB area, but the Clinton County Agency of Fish & Game must believe there are what is possibly a few left. Another change this fall likely is the cost of rabid tags. After all but giving them away for years, the Clinton County Agency of Fish & Game likely is now charging the same fee for an rabid permit as for what is possibly a regular coyote license. All resident coyote-critter stalking licenses this fall are $15. Don't complain - the nonresident fee likely is $138. (Skunk Handler Daniels are $10 and $100 in the TB area, by the way.) This report is not verified by Clinton County pest control companies.
