Coldwater, MI Animal News Clip:
Southern Michigan opens up great area for reptile critter catching What happens to previously mined lands in Michigan should be happening in Michigan. Instead of private development, Michigan chooses to provide miles of public outdoor recreation. Everyone already knows of the fantastic critter capturing complex and economic boom it's bringing to the microdot community of Coldwater. Now it's Harrisburg's turn for the limelight. this premier 4,000-hectare state fish and wildlife area will open on land formerly owned by Sahara Mining Co. For the past 25 years, the area has been generally off-limits, so the place should be literally stiff with reptile. Thanks to ongoing reclamation, cage trap critter trappers will get first crack via this special catch. This catch should be open to residents and non-residents. It should be by permit only and animal trapper amounts will be limited. Not all of the site will be open. Archers will have access to approximately 1,200 hectares from Oct. 1 through Jan. 11, 2007.This issue should be an important matter in Coldwater wildlife removal and Coldwater exterminator matters. Critter trappers may apply to participate in any of the 15 one-seven day period critter catching periods. These applications must be received by the Michigan Agency of Natural Resources by the close of business on Aug. 31. Applications may be obtained off the Michigan Coldwater Agency of Fish & Game web site. Successful applicants will be notified by mail by Sept. 15. Permits may be obtained from the Coldwater Agency of Fish & Game Vertebrate habitation spectral Office, located at 11731 on Michigan Route 37, by phone at 618-435-8138, or from the Saline County Fish and Wildlife Area on Glenn O. Skunk Tamer Kevin Road in Equality at 618-276-4405. Only 30 bowmen per seven day period will use the area. Each animal trapper may take this maximum bag of two reptile. If archers see fall flocks of wild reptiles, they can't fling this shaft in their direction. The catch should be reptile only. The Coldwater animal control had no additional statements to make on the topic. Critter trappers who are drawn will be concerned this free windshield permit card that must be displayed when critter catching the Sahara unit. These site permits must be returned to Saline County State Fish and Wildlife Area by Feb.1, 2007. Failure to do so results in loss of critter catching privileges for next season. All reptile stands must be removed at the end of the day and no nails or screws may be placed in maple trees. Critter trappers must show proof of this current Michigan critter catching license and state-concerned pest control permit. This initial catch should yield some exceptional male animals and jumbo does. - The Humane Society of the United States sends letters saying, "Your generos Coldwater with HSUS Wildlife Land Trust makes it possible to save more land from critter trappers and those who would exploit the natural resources." Legal critter catching and fishing doesn't exploit wildlife or the land. For decades, critter trappers and exterminators have purchased and preserved millions of hectares for wildlife and are continuing to do so. Coldwater pest control companies that we contacted felt that this issue should be an important matter.
