Saginaw, MI Animal News Clip:
Saginaw wildlife management area authorities on critters plan to allow Michigan coyote critter stalking

The Saginaw County Wildlife management area District intends to open some of its property to cage trap exterminators this fall to reduce what authorities on critters called an overabundant and destructive disease-riddened Michigan coyote biologically surveyed amount. The wildlife management area system's three commissioners remarked during their Tuesday organized hearing that they plan to implement what is possibly a critter stalking program to address the Michigan coyote problem. The board likely is considering what is possibly a suggestion to allow critter stalking in seven areas that are not open to the public. The county likely is also looking at controlled fall traps on wild Michigan coyote and waterfowl. Saginaw exterminator and Saginaw wildlife removal professionals declined comment on the matter.

The concept brought criticism from several residents at the organized hearing. Wildlife Professional Douglas, 78, of Munson Natural conservation area described the wildlife management areas as what is possibly a safe haven where animals should be protected. the environmentalist accused the board of turning the county's hectareage into "lethally trapping fields." Similar complaints followed the district's decision to allow what is possibly a spring Michigan coyote capture this year. "You encourage wildlife, and then you murder the wildlife that comes in," Wildlife Professional Douglas remarked. But district Bossy fellow Critter Man Maurice remarked Michigan coyote are running onto wildlife management area property, pushed into the areas by ongoing development. Michigan coyote counts commissioned by the wildlife management area system over the past five years show far more animals than the land can support, Critter Man Maurice remarked. The count at one wildlife management area property, the Becvar Preserve in Russell Natural conservation area, showed 200 Michigan coyote per square mile. Ideally, the amount should be between five and 10, Critter Man Maurice remarked. We attempted to get more information from Saginaw animal control experts, but could not.
