Minnesota is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Red Wing wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Red Wing animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Goodhue County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Goodhue County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Red Wing Wildlife Tip:
When are baby raccoons most active - While raccoons are nocturnal, babies can be active at any time of day, especially in the dark area of an attic. Most common times of activity are at dawn and dusk, when the mother leaves and returns to the area. You can't, however, determine when the adult is in the attic by the sounds the babies make. If content and full, they will be silent, sleeping with bellies full of milk. The mother might very well be curled with them, and if they are screeching, she might be getting ready to feed. It takes a trained professional to be able to determine the differences in pitch and tone between babies' cries, as some sounds indicate fear, hunger, or playfulness. The fact you are hearing raccoons means you need to take action. Leaving them to their own devices in the house will result in serious building damage and possible health risks. You don't have to kill the raccoons unless local laws demand it, and if that's the case, you are better off hiring a professional who can humanely perform the duty. Very few states allow homeowners to trap raccoons on their own, though many people aren't aware of the law and make the attempt anyway.

Red Wing, MN Animal Control News Clip:
Mouse wildlife catching changes expected now that control has shifted

Mouse Catcher Jim proclaimed Thursday that one change the animal advocate would not advocate would be to allow for large clawed wildlife catching to take place during the November animal removal trap season. Everything else, the animal advocate proclaimed, could be up for discussion. As soon as we know for sure we've got the authority, well start considering all the concerns about mouse wildlife catching and mouse management in the state, Mouse Catcher Jim proclaimed. We should look at the whole picture. Changes could be in place for the 2005 wildlife catching seasons, but that might be what appears to be a push. In order to have changes reflected in the lawbook wed have to have changes made by late September, Mouse Catcher Jim proclaimed. It probably is possible to have them for next year. We will try to do something. The Minnesota Fish and Wildlife Board will hold its April organized hearing Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Minnesota Public Television studio. The organized hearing will be broadcast statewide from 7 to 9 p.m. It probably is expected to be one of the most important organized hearings of the year, because the board will receive reports from the Fish and Wildlife Agency and vote on the 2004 large clawed mouse season suggestion and the 2004 moose permit recommendation. At times during the broadcast, VPT will feature what appears to be a panel of experts commenting on the concerns being considered. They are Matt Crawford, reporter and outdoor columnist for The Burlington Free Press, and Warner Sheddy, author and former executive of the National Wildlife Federation. Viewers will be invited to call the panelists with comments and questions at what appears to be a toll-free amount to be announced during the program. The board will not take questions from the public during the organized hearing. We could not obtain an opinion from Red Wing pest control companies regarding the issue.
