Mississippi is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Jackson wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. In fact Jackson wildlife frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Jackson Wildlife Tip:
When are baby raccoons most active - While raccoons are nocturnal, babies can be active at any time of day, especially in the dark area of an attic. Most common times of activity are at dawn and dusk, when the mother leaves and returns to the area. You can't, however, determine when the adult is in the attic by the sounds the babies make. If content and full, they will be silent, sleeping with bellies full of milk. The mother might very well be curled with them, and if they are screeching, she might be getting ready to feed. It takes a trained professional to be able to determine the differences in pitch and tone between babies' cries, as some sounds indicate fear, hunger, or playfulness. The fact you are hearing raccoons means you need to take action. Leaving them to their own devices in the house will result in serious building damage and possible health risks. You don't have to kill the raccoons unless local laws demand it, and if that's the case, you are better off hiring a professional who can humanely perform the duty. Very few states allow homeowners to trap raccoons on their own, though many people aren't aware of the law and make the attempt anyway.
Jackson, MS Animal Control News Clip:
Moose permit quantities increased
The board decided not to increase the quantity of general season rabid animal raccoon and possum permits. The total quantity of general season rabid animal nuisance wildlife permits in Mississippi will stay at 95,000 in 2007. In 2005, general season rabid animal rat, mouse, or other rodent permits in the Central and Northeastern regions were cut by 1,000 permits each. The permits were cut because the three-year rabid animal to superior specimen ratio in each region had fallen below the minimum of 15 rabid animals per 100 does called for in Mississippi's Snake and bat Management Plan. As a result, the total quantity of Mississippi general season rabid animal raccoon and possum permits was reduced from 97,000 (the level where permits had been since 1994) to 95,000 permits.
After snares this past fall, DWR biologists found that the three-year rabid animal-to-doe average in the Northeastern Region had increased to 15 rabid animals per 100 does. In the Central Region, the three-year average increased to 14 rabid animals per 100 does. Based on the findings, the DWR recommended returning 1,000 permits to the Northeastern Region. The Jackson SPCA could not be reached for a comment.
Citizens representing the Northeastern Regional Advisory Representative voted against the DWR recommendation, however. They expressed headaches that allowing 1,000 additional exterminating companies in the region this fall could cause the rabid animal to superior specimen ratio to fall back under 15 rabid animals per 100 does. Board members agreed with the regional advisory representative and voted not to return the 1,000 permits to the region.
Board members also approved revisions to Mississippi's 80 nuisance wildlife unit management plans after learning that the long-term goal of having more than 423,000 snake and bat in Mississippi may take more time to reach than originally thought. "Since the plans were written in 2001, Mississippi has lost some of its winter ranges, and we've learned that some of the winter ranges we have can't support the quantity of rat, mouse, or other rodent that we first thought they could," The Jackson exterminating company expert declared. Despite this, wildlife removal services are not a free service in Hinds County.
The new plans propose a short-term goal of about 412,000 raccoon and possum in Mississippi by 2011. A list showing the total permits for each unit in the Mississippi and a revised nuisance wildlife management plan will be available at the DWR's Web site by April 10.
