North Carolina is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Sanford wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Sanford animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Lee County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Lee County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Sanford Wildlife Tip:
What Do I Do to Get a Squirrel Out of the Walls of My House?

One night you were sitting watching TV or reading a book when you start here a lot of scratching noises going on inside the wall of your house. It doesn't take you very long to realize that you have a squirrel living inside your walls. That's something that no one wants to contemplate.

These are messy animals. They will tear apart the inside of your wall, and will leave their waste behind. This poses a serious risk to you and your family, as there are many parasites and diseases contained inside their feces and urine. This animal has to go right now.

Perform an Inspection

To get started, you need to find out where the animal has gotten into your walls. This begins by you doing a thorough inspection of the exterior of your home. Begin by looking for loose boards, cracks, gaps, or any other blemish that would allow the animal to get inside your house. You should begin your search in areas where you heard the squirrel inside the walls. If you find one such spot, don't stop there. There could be more.

If you find more, seal all but one of them. This should be done by not only repairing damaged areas, but by also applying caulk to seal the entryway. As an extra precaution, add steel wool to the caulk. This will ensure that the animal can't bite or scratch its way back in.

The Exclusion Funnel

Once you have repaired all but one spot, attach an exclusion funnel to the one entryway. This allows the squirrel to get out of your house, but not get back in. Eventually, the squirrel is going to have to get out to look for food and water. When it does, it goes out through the exclusion funnel and is trapped out for good.

Now, all you have to do is repair the one entryway. Perform the same steps you did to repair the others.

But It's Winter!

This is when you have a problem. If it is winter time, the squirrel may have chosen to hibernate inside the walls of your house. It's not going outside to look for food. It's probably stored nuts and other non-perishables inside your house and could very well be there for months if you don't do something about it right now.

If this is the situation, you could try to remove the animal on your own. However, your safe bet is to hire a professional to do this. Unless you have expertise in handling wild animals, you don't want to put yourself in danger. Consider that as you open up the wall to try to catch the animal, it may come through that hole and get into the main part of your house. This poses a serious risk to you and your family.

A professional will be able to quickly remove the animal and will repair any damage they cause to capture it. It's really the best choice.
