Virginia is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Burke wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Burke animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Fairfax County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Fairfax County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Burke Wildlife Tip:
What Are Some Ways To Kill An Armadillo In The Yard?

Before I discuss ways to kill an armadillo in your yard, I would like to first state that isolation and relocation are the best ways to deal with an armadillo problem, because if you decide to kill the armadillo personally, you will have to consider what to do with the body.

If you notice that there is an armadillo living in your yard and you make the decision to kill it in your yard rather than take it to an isolated environment, then there are a few practical steps to follow. To kill an armadillo in your yard, you have to find a way to trap the animal. Because they are mostly night creatures, it is preferable to trace their burrows and place a live cage at the entrance of the burrow. Note that armadillos dig up a lot of random holes, but they mostly only live in one. It is attitudinal for the armadillo to have as many random holes as possible which they dig deeper into in search for food, but when they have to sleep, they go to their personally dug up hole. Armadillos sleep an average of sixteen hours daily and are mostly night creatures, so it is better to set your trap during the day and wait for when they come out.

You can kill the armadillo using a death trap. The death trap can be placed at the entrance of the burrow so that when it comes out to feed at night it gets caught and is eventually killed by the trap. The death trap is a lethal body grip trap, designed to hold the armadillo too tight for comfort until it cannot survive the struggle for its life. The body grip trap is also constructed to grow tighter with every struggle, which would be a pretty natural reaction of the armadillo when it is caught.

The lethal body traps are very dangerous and are mostly available to professional trappers only. These body traps are not advised because they may accidentally hurt other unsuspecting stray animals. These traps are very complicated to assemble and require you to seek professional help when setting them up to avoid ending up with a self-inflicted injury while trying to arrange the trap yourself.

There is also the option of shooting the armadillo to death with a hunting gun. This is a very dangerous option because guns can cause a lot of other damages if the intended target is missed. This brings me back to what I stated earlier-that armadillos are night creatures. They spend the majority of the day sleeping, and they come out for food at night. So targeting and shooting down an armadillo at night is an unlikely possibility.
