Irvine, California is a relatively young city, designed by the famous Los Angeles architect William Pereira in the 1960s. It has a population of 143,000 people and it is located in Orange County. The city is divided into villages that are separated by six-lane streets. Each village includes a spectrum of similar types of dwellings, along with shopping, religious institutions and schools. The houses, landscaping, and even the cars must look extremely similar, which is enforced by the homeowners associations, that are very powerful. Commercial districts are checker-boarded in a periphery around the central townships. Major incorporated companies include Taco Bell, In-N-Out, Lynksys, and Broadcom. Also, the University of California, Irvine is located in the center of the city and is a great point of interest of the city. Irvine, CA Animal News Clip:
Ask your PCO: Irvine pest control is an important part of the local economy, but only a few California companies deal with wild animals. The computer has been a godsend to PCOs and farmers alike in this regard. The software program that we are using for writing pesticide-application recommendations does a great job with this. We use the computer program to write up recommendations and it guides us through all of the reporting requirements for the growers to submit to their county agricultural commissioners. The program also provides information for worker protection and everything else. The Orange County Pest Control board could not be reached for comment. I had a call from a grower the other day. He was looking at a product's label on the Internet, and he saw that the product had a 7-day re-entry restriction on it. What he didn't realize is that the product had a 21-day restriction only in California. I was able to go to my computer and confirm for him the 21-day restriction. Before we had computers, we had to generate all of our reports by hand and it could take hours. Now it takes maybe a minute and a half. The computer is doing everything for you. There are many types of insects and animals in Irvine, and other California cities, but not all of them are pests after all. Our arsenal of agricultural chemicals has greatly improved in recent years. The products are easier on the environment and they are working a lot better. The new chemistry that is coming out is also cheaper in the long run because we have to make fewer applications to get the job done. Most local owners of pest control companies in Irvine, California weren’t sure what to make of all this. Irvine Wetlands Wildlife Studied "We have destroyed so much of our wetlands that we don't have that much more to lose," said Marcia Handsome, Wetlands Action Network executive director. California leads the nation in the loss of wetlands, having paved over or plowed under nearly 90 percent of these ecologically important habitats. California has many reptiles, and it’s important to be able to identify Irvine snake species and mammals. The Central Valley, where wetlands once covered 4 million acres, now has just 300,000 acres, according to the California Wetlands Information System. Past federal laws and policies encouraged wetland destruction because these marshy areas were considered worthless swampland and breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitoes. Remember to treat the wild animals of Irvine, California, with respect. Then scientists discovered how important wetlands were to fish, wildlife and water quality, and laws were rewritten to protect them. In Irvine in the 1970s, longtime resident David Carlson said most of his neighbors considered Southern California "that smelly swamp" and were eager to get rid of it. Although several species of wildlife roam Irvine, only a few, such as raccoons and squirrels, are considered pest wildlife.
