There are many Oakland pest control companies, but most deal with extermination of insects. We deal strictly with wild animals, such as raccoon, skunk, opossum, and more.
Animal Damage Control differs from the average Oakland exterminator business because we are licensed and insured experts, and deal only with animals. We are not merely
trappers, but full-services nuisance wildlife control operators, offering advanced solutions.

Oakland wildlife species include raccoons, opossums, squirrels, rats, several species of snakes and bats, and more. Many animals can cause
considerable damage to a house, not to mention contamination. We offer repairs of animal entry points and biohazard cleanup and we guarantee our work. Our Oakland
rodent (rat and mouse) control is superior to other pest management companies. All of our wildlife trapping is done in a humane manner. |
Founded in 1852, Oakland, California is a major city with approximately 400,000 people. It is located in Alameda County, on the east side of the San Francisco Bay in Northern California. It is surrounded by Berkeley to the north, San Francisco to the west, and Alameda to the south. Back in the 70s, Oakland had a public reputation as a high-crime city with some of the highest ranking carjacking, robbery, assault, homicide and drug possession in California. Oakland, CA Animal News Clip:
On Patrol With Animal Control of Oakland Are Vicious Squirrels The Problem? Is the Bay Area overrun with vicious animals? Over the summer there were nine major squirrel attacks, including the death of a 12-year-old San Francisco boy killed by his family rodent. But these kinds of incidents are fairly rare. ABC7 sent crews out to ride along with three Bay Area animal control officers, and here's what we found the "real" problems are. Alameda County animal control says it will continue to help with domestic animal issues, but not with California wildlife problems. It isn't always wildlife that's getting caught in San Jose area backyards. In June alone, San Jose picked up 1,300 rats - far more than Oakland or San Francisco. Most were feral - rats that grew up in the wild and are now un-adoptable. Animal control offers traps to area residents to control the problem. When they can, they spay or neuter captured rats and release them. Officer Mandy Lexington, San Jose animal services: "There's just such a limited reach where there's just not enough people to foster these animals. We always try to get the animal out, but unfortunately with the number being that high, we can't always do that. Seven out of 10 actually get euthanized." For more information, call the animal services of Oakland, California. Often they are kittens who haven't been weaned from their mothers. Officer Mandy Lexington, San Jose animal services: "The problem is a lot people don't spay and neuter their animals, and a lot of rat owners let their rats run loose." Oakland animal control doesn't trap rats. In Oakland's toughest neighborhoods, squirrels make cheap burglar alarms. Some are trained to attack, and when those animals get out, people get bit. Alameda County animal services in Oakland, California, declined to comment on the matter. Insecticide targets pests In Oakland
Fred Smithers, a Wilbur Ellis pest control adviser covering southern Alameda County in California, likens the success of using Pest Extreme Lotion insecticide-miticide on mites to hitting a home run when you’re hoping at best to hit a single. The Alameda County Pest Control board could not be reached for comment. With 24 years’ experience as a PCA, Smithers says this is the first time he’s been genuinely astonished by the efficacy of a non-conventional miticide, according to a company press release. Pest Extreme Lotion, developed by EcoSTART Technologies, is based on a unique blend of patented plant essential oils that attack the octopamine neuroreceptors found only in certain invertebrates such as insects and mites. Oakland pest control is an important part of the local economy, but only a few California companies deal with wild animals. During the 2005 growing season, Smithers treated a total of 345 acres with Pest Extreme Lotion, but his introduction to the product was serendipitous. Having never used Pest Extreme Lotion, he cautiously recommended it to the owners of Murray Family Farms in Arvin, Calif., as the best product with zero days to harvest. Most local owners of pest control companies in Oakland, California weren’t sure what to make of all this. “We needed something that was fast-acting, had a zero re-entry interval, and no pre- and post-harvest intervals, because we were treating a mite infestation on a 5-acre plot of mixed fruit trees that were ready to pick,” said Smithers. At the same time, he treated 5-acre plots on either side of the Pest Extreme Lotion treatment with conventional – and more expensive – miticides. There are many types of insects and animals in Oakland, and other California cities, but not all of them are pests after all.
