Spring Hill, FL Animal News Clip:
Wildlife - How's winter in Florida sound? Seized gators to head south The Wildlife Trapper, the shelter's unofficial "creepy, crawly critter person" has nurtured the pair to their current length of roughly 26 inches, using the ever-popular frozen-mouse-a-day diet. Florida has an abundance of wildlife, and Hernando County is no exception. "Their temperament has changed a lot," The Wildlife Trapper said. "At first they were very docile. But, now if you stick your hand in the tank, they'll go right up to it. They're getting more alligator-like." Although several species of wildlife roam Hernando County, only a few, such as raccoons and Eastern Gray Squirrels and rats, are considered pest wildlife. And that is a good thing, considering where the pair are going and the size of some of their new neighbors. The Wildlife Trapper said Quaffle and Snitch will spend some time growing, away from the larger alligator crowd in Hernando County. Florida has many reptiles, and it’s important to be able to identify Hernando County snake species and mammals. But, with a little time and a lot of food, they'll soon be swimming with the full-grown gators around the park, where visitors get a glimpse of the prehistoric-looking creatures in their natural surroundings.
