Utah is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Morgan County wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Morgan County animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Morgan County Wildlife Tip:
What To Do About Bats In The Chimney?

So, your chimney has bats in them and you wish to remove them humanely. Your chimney probably has bats because it provides them shelter, protects them from their predators and is warm and comfortable. Bats are protected species and are useful to our ecosystem, they eat insects and pests. While they don't cause any damage to your chimney there could be a number of health problems. Guano of the bats is dangerous to humans. Also, you will not be able to use your fireplace if you want.

A word of caution NEVER START A FIRE or your room will be flooded with burning bats, they will be screeching down the damper or crawling through the gaps.

It is the female bats that occupy your chimney. They give birth to their young ones in the months of April and May and it is during this time of the year that your chimney will be infested by bats. Young bats do not fly until the end of summer, which means they are limited to the chimney. It is illegal and inhumane to have a bat removal done during the months when babies cannot fly. If you do the mothers might go out but the babies will remain trapped in. Without their mothers the young ones may die. You can remove the bats from your chimney by exclusion and can be done even when there are no babies in the chimney.

Exclusion

Bats normally use horizontal gaps for entry and exit making the hole at the chimney top their best way to enter. There may be gaps where the chimney meets the roof or there are possibilities of decay in your chimney through which they are coming in. To confirm their way in you can wait for evening for the bats to fly out to check where they come in and go out from, there might be more than one place.

Bats are not fond of cold weathers and if you are staying in an area where winters are very cold, you can wait for winter, they will migrate themselves. Once they leave the chimney seal all possible entries or net them, as once the weather turns warm they will come back but will move on to look for a another place if they are unable to enter.

There are many types of exclusion devices like netting, funnel and pipes. These devices are fitted with one way valves and will let the bat exit but will not allow them to enter. Be sure to close the damper before performing exclusion, else the bats might fly in to your living room. Exclusion might take several days for all the bats to be removed and once done seal all the possible entries before you remove the exclusion device.

There might be guano accrued in the chimney. As bat dropping are hazardous for humans it is advised that you take professional help to get the chimney cleaned.
