Bats are nocturnal rodents that help control the pests that are located near your home. While they feed each night on the pests that may bother you, many people consider having a bat in their home a pest. If you find that there are numerous bats in your house, such as a colony, you will need to safely and carefully remove them. Most areas protect bats so it is illegal to destroy them. Bats will usually not harm people, so there is no need to harm them either.

You will first need to search your home for any openings that will allow the bats to enter. Bats are able to squeeze through holes that are as small as a dime. If you locate the opening you will need to install a device that allows them to get out, but not back in. An exclusion screen can be purchased at most home improvement stores. You are able to easily staple or nail the top of the screen over the opening. This allows bats to fly out of the flap, but not back in. You should leave this screen in place for a few weeks to ensure all of the bats have left safely.

After all of the bats are done, you are able to permanently seal up the holes. You should make sure that you inspect your home for other openings to prevent them from returning. Installing a backyard bat house will provide them with another place to roost when they leave. This will also allow them to continue to feed on the mosquitoes, moths and flies that are in your yard. You are able to easily purchase a bat house from a local home store and install in a location in your backyard that is dark and quiet in the evening.

Bats are great animals! Unfortunately, the do often choose to roost inside home and buildings, where they can create a big mess. It's a good idea to remove the bats from your belfry or attic, but it's also a great idea to avoid harming them! Any competent wildlife control expert should have the knowledge and expertise to safely and effectively remove an entire colony of bats from a house without harming or killing a single one. I know that I have a 100% success rate with bat removal jobs, and I believe the list of companies that I've compiled in my directory is of similar quality.
