The Assistance of a Professional
There are more than 300 species of pigeons. These pigeons are incredibly intelligent birds and have a strong desire to return to their home. This means that you will be unable to simply catch them and relocate them. They will usually find their way back.
If you want the easiest solution for your pigeon problem, you should contact a pest control expert. They understand how they to discourage pigeons from roosting in your area. They are also able to take proactive measures to keep them from returning.
One of the safest and simplest measures is by installing a plastic spike strip, also known as needle strips. These strips are easily mountable and flexible. They can be quickly mounted with glue adhesives or zip ties. The needle strips prevent the pigeons from comfortably landing on your building. Most professionals are able to install the needle strips so that they are not visible from the ground. Some business owners find the needle strips unsightly and prefer other methods for pigeon control.
A professional can also apply a sticky chemical to surfaces that also make it uncomfortable for pigeons to land. If you are not interested in chemicals, you may want to think about trapping them. Professionals will understand the best traps to use, as well as how to humanely treat the pigeons once they are captured. If you want to trap them yourself, you want to make sure that you are using a trap that has one way doors. These doors allow pigeons to fly in, but not fly out. There are some traps that allow for one or two pigeons to be caught at a time, while others can hold up to 30 pigeons at once. Once you have trapped your pigeons, you will need to contact a professional removal company, as they will know how to properly relocate the pigeons.
The most commonly dealt with bird problem in the US is that of pigeons roosting on buildings. Feral pigeons tend to live in urban areas, and they prefer to roost on and in buildings, where they leave nesting material, feathers, parasites, and
worst of all, their unsanitary and corrosive droppings. The only way to
permanently solve such problems is to install bird exclusion materials, such as bird spikes or netting. Bird trapping is also an option, but it's usually a poor and temporary
fix. In addition to pigeons, other birds can cause problems in certain other situations: woodpeckers damaging houses, sparrows stuck inside retail spaces, Chimney Swifts nesting inside chimneys, etc.
