Stray cats were going into the attic through this vent next to me. |

In my job as a wildlife control operator, I usually deal with the same 8 types of animals: raccoons, squirrels, rats, opossums, armadillos, snakes, bats, and birds. However, from time to time I get a chance to handle an
uncommon species. I really relish these jobs. The above photos are all of animals that I don't usually handle. If you want to learn more, please read my How To Get Rid of Stray Cats page.
The catty jobs I do - I do not even remember the number of times I have removed dead and alive animals from people’s attics. Throughout my years of work, there have been countless such cases where I was caught to take care of some animal in the attic, ranging from opossums, rats, squirrels, bats, raccoons and, in this particular picture, cats. Much like any of the other animals mentioned, it is not uncommon for cats to enter people’s attics whenever they find an opening. After all, who would not want a sheltered place where no one disturbs them? I discovered that they were entering through the vents by climbing up on a nearby tree (also photographed).
In this case, I was called by the residents of an apartment building who could hear scratching and meowing sounds coming from the attic. Meowing sounds could only mean that the place was being inhabited by cats and so, it was necessary to do something about it. The rare times that I take up cat removal cases, I have two ways to get the job done. One is the fairly simple setting the trap routine, in which I place cat food in a trap and catch the cats as they come to eat the bait.
In the second method, I set up a one way exclusion door (the one you see in the picture) on the vents’ opening, so that the cats can come out of the exit point but cannot go back in. For the first two cats, I used the second method and you can see them successfully caught with the help of the exclusion door. For the rest, I set up cat traps with cat food inside and caught them all (six of them) one by one. I then sealed the entry point from the ducts and cleaned the insulation of cat droppings.
AAAnimal Control is a privately owned wildlife removal and pest control business, located in Orlando Florida. I deal strictly with wild animals including ones that have died inside houses. I am not an extermination company, but a critter removal
and control specialist. The above photos are some of the many that I've taken in the field over my years of work. Please email me if
you have any questions about the above photographs, or any questions about
wildlife problems or Florida wildlife removal issues.
