San Jose is the third largest city in the state of California, after LA and San Diego. It is located in Santa Clara County which is at the south end of the San Francisco Bay, also known as “Silicon Valley”. It has an approximate population of 904,000 citizens and is considered the safest city with a population greater than 500,000 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. San Jose started out as a farming community, and quickly transformed into a city focused on technology by the 1960s. IBM established their headquarters back in 1943 and from that point on, Silicon Valley expanded into a research and development city for all types of tech companies such as Adobe Systems, BEA Systems, Cisco, and eBay, as well as major facilities for Flextronics, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, and Lockheed Martin. With the technology industry being as strong as it is, it is no wonder that San Jose is a prosperous and safe place to live! It's also a safe place for many wild animals, thanks to all of the homes here that animals like to live in. We also service the towns of Redwood Estates, Alviso, Milpitas, Mountain View, Sunnyvale and also animal control in Coyote, Cupertino, Santa Clara, San Martin and pest control in Campbell, Mount Hamilton, New Almaden and wild animal services in Holy City, Los Altos, Morgan Hill and wildlife management in Los Gatos, Gilroy, Saratoga.
San Jose, CA Wildlife News Clip:
Wildlife - Nature in the City of San Jose The slope behind Laguna Honda Hospital, near San Jose's geographical center, is a gloomy and inhospitable place. Ragged eucalyptus trees choked in ivy loom over the remnants of a homeless encampment. Bags of trash and used syringes lurk in the impassable brambles. Cars hurry past on the noisy street below, drivers and passengers oblivious. California has an abundance of wildlife, and San Jose is no exception. But when Jimmy the Squirrel and Snake Man stands amid this darkness and makes a quick rushing sound through pursed lips, something remarkable happens: The spot comes to life. Tiny, curious birds materialize out of the underbrush and hop cautiously our way. Although several species of wildlife roam San Jose, only a few, such as raccoons and squirrels, are considered pest wildlife. Ruby-crowned kinglets, a hermit thrush, Townsend's warbler, chestnut-backed chickadees and others surround us from all directions. A hummingbird swings, chirruping, around an overgrown trunk. The birds twitter at us and the hollow is transformed. Remember to treat the wild animals of San Jose, California, with respect. Squirrel and Snake Man is an ecologist who specializes in San Jose's native ecosystems. He's part of a small but committed underground of forceful advocates for nature within the city, people who are actively planting the seeds of a different kind of city -- one that coexists with wildlife. California has many reptiles, and it’s important to be able to identify San Jose snake species and mammals.
