That tranquility can be ruined when you get animals that have made their home inside the eaves of your house. Animals such as birds, squirrels, and bats can find the eaves in your home to be the ideal location for creating their own home. They can build a nest in this area and can create some serious problems for you in relation to the health risks that they cause as well as the damage to their property.

While you may want to be a hospitable host to those who come to your house, you may not like the idea of a wild animal setting up its own home on your property. However, just trying to get these animals to go away may not be as easy as you thought. You can knock down their nests, but that will not mean that they will not return. These can be persistent pests and so doing all that you can to try to rid yourself of this problem is an important factor.

Regardless of what kind of past you are trying to get rid of, there are some common things that you can employ that will assist you in keeping them from returning. The first of these is to ensure that the space where they are trying to set up a house within your eaves is not accessible to them anymore.

One of the ways to combat this is to buy a special strip that is usually used to keep birds from being able to perch on your roof, but can be just as easily employed underneath the eaves of your home. These spikes do not allow the animal to try to set up a nest and keep it away in general.

In case of animals that need to climb their way to the eaves of your house, removing access points that allow them to get onto your roof is an important key to implement as well. You can accomplish this by removing tree branches that are close to your roof or other things that could allow these pests to gain access near your home.

One of the things that has become a common deterrent to these animals is to use a chemical fire extinguisher and spray that underneath the eaves of your house. These usually contain sulfur, which is not dangerous to you and does not cause your home to have a horrible smell to it, but is quite a repellent to these creatures that may want to build their own resident underneath the eaves.

These are a few steps you can take and have real success in keeping these pests away. Keep in mind that you have to be persistent to ensure they don’t come back. For more information, you may want to click on one of these guides that I wrote:
