In my job as a wildlife control operator, I usually deal with the same 8 types of animals: raccoons, squirrels, rats, opossums, armadillos, snakes, bats, and birds. However, from time to time I get a chance to handle an uncommon species. I really relish these jobs. The above photos are all of animals that I don't usually handle. If you want to learn more, please read my How To Get Rid of Other Wildlife page.

Say hello to bobcat - Do you know why a bobcat is known by that name? It gets its name due to the bobbed shaped of its tail, which is around 5-6 inches long at an average. I love bobcats and I think they are magnificent, although the customers I have trapped bobcats for would beg to differ with me. Each time I get a call about a bobcat sighting, the caller’s voice is usually filled with fear and apprehension that the bobcat is coming to eat them. Well, look at the size of our cute friend in the picture. Do you really think it can tear apart a whole human being?

My belief about animals is that they don’t attack you unless you provoke them. How many times have you come across a piece of news that said some bobcat attacked a bunch of people? Bobcats are mostly interested in hunting small animals like rodents, chickens, insects, rabbits and deer (although deer hunting is quite rare for bobcats). They are mostly found in swamps, deep wooded and semi-desert areas. And so, if you happen to notice one in your neighborhood, it is safe to assume that the poor cat got lost somehow.

Generally I don’t deal with bobcat removal. The one you see in the picture was also caught by chance while I was trying to catch a bunch of armadillos and later on, I just placed a call to the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). I consider the job of bobcat catching and removal best suited to them since they have all the facilities to provide protection to these animals.

And this is what my advice to you would be too in case you come across a bobcat someday. Keep your nerves under control and immediately contact the FWC for help.

AAAnimal Control is a privately owned wildlife removal and pest control business, located in Orlando Florida. I deal strictly with wild animals including ones that have died inside houses. I am not an extermination company, but a critter removal and control specialist. The above photos are some of the many that I've taken in the field over my years of work. Please email me if you have any questions about the above photographs, or any questions about wildlife problems or Florida wildlife removal issues.
