Pests - If you can't beat 'em, confuse 'em

Pheromone distracters are used in crops such as walnuts, prunes, apples, peaches and pears. Scientists are working on how these techniques can be applied in a variety of crops. However, the extermination crew at Sow There! World Headquarters thinks these big minds should first try to find a pheromone disrupter that works on married men. San Francisco pest control is an important part of the local economy, but only a few California companies deal with wild animals.

If this works so well for farmers, I thought maybe it would be fun to distract the extermination bugs in home gardens. Alas, Termite Man Connell, farm adviser for UC Davis Cooperative Extension, said it won't work on a tree-by-tree basis. Termite Man said farmers who use pheromone distracters will find that there is increased bug damage at the extermination perimeters of their orchard, which lessens as the trees are closer to the center of the extermination orchard where the pheromone therapy is more intense.
